Thanks, John. I think it would be interesting to get a group of copywriters in a room and share where we came from, where we're at and where we're going. It's definitely an interesting business with potential to grow in so many different directions.

Hi Shari - sounds like you're growing organically rather than forcing it, which is the best way. My copywriting agency sort of grew in the same way - from a one man band into quite a few copywriters, and although it was intimidating at first , it's amazing fun now.

It's interesting that you're going to be offering a full marketing service. We chose to stick to the writing cos it's what we enjoy most, but a full service marketing agency is a much bigger and more exciting way to go!

Good luck, and i'm interested to hear more :-)

Randy, thanks for your comment. It seems that everyone starts out thinking that everyone and anyone is a prospect, but as you know, that's just not the case. It's not until you figure out who your market really is that you begin to market effectively.

John Jantsch over at Duct Tape Marketing calls it "identifying your ideal client". David Meerman Scott's latest book "Tuned In" talks about the necessity of "understanding buyer personas." I think this is the hardest part - it's natural to want to communicate to the masses - to everybody - far and wide (hoping to increase the chance of snagging a sale!), but all the best minds say to narrow, narrow, narrow so that your marketing dollars can be best spent communicating WITH and SIMILAR TO your exact target market(s).
