How can 2010 be just days away, when there’s so much left unfinished from 2009? Has this year flown by as fast for you as it has for me? December, in particular, has been nothing but a blur.
Earlier this month, I wrote a post (never published) about the importance of stepping back from your business from time-to-time. We can’t continually be in overdrive, only striving to meet business objectives. I wrote it with teary eyes at about 20,000 feet over Iowa, on my way to visit my dad, who is bravely fighting advanced cancer. As you can imagine, all thoughts of actually publishing anything to this blog evaporated when my flight arrived in Dallas. It was such a blessing to be able to spend two weeks with not only my parents, but also my very large family.
I’m back in Wisconsin now, where my husband and I enjoyed Christmas Eve with his parents, our sons, their wives, and our grandchildren. Another blessing, not to be taken for granted. Is there anything better than the excitement of very young children opening their Christmas presents? What fun!
From my desk to yours, I hope you also had a merry and meaningful Christmas with those you love.
I leave you with two gifts that came my way just before Christmas. These were too good to keep to myself and re-gifting is encouraged. The first is The Best of Publicity Hound’s Tips of the Week of 2009 by Joan Stewart. Download it, devour it, then sign up for Joan’s weekly publicity tips.
My second gift to you is provided by John Forde of The Copywriter’s Roundtable. He’s republished the classic, Scientific Advertising, by Claude Hopkins, which is next on my reading list. It’s required reading for every copywriter and highly recommended for every business owner who is serious about reaping results from advertising.
Wishing you a joyous and highly profitable 2010. Happy New Year!
