While minor revisions for detail clarification are somewhat expected in written work for hire, a complete re-write is often due to poor communication. In my experience, it takes more than note-taking during discussion and reference material to ensure a great end result.
Here are a couple of areas to discuss in detail when hiring a writer or accepting a project:

Are you still connected to your email subscribers? In today’s 30-minute tip, take time to check on that. If you use AWeber, it’s easy. Your email campaign isn’t just information coming from you to your subscribers, it’s also information gathering for you, if you know what you’re looking for.
Find out how long it’s been since your subscribers have opened your message. Then, find out how many read the information and went to your Web site because of it. If you separate your customers based on the last time they opened your message, you’ll get a better idea of active and inactive recipients. In the last three months, how many of your customers opened your e-newsletter? It may be time to send an inquiry to see if there is an area that can be improved, but better yet, specifically target a new campaign to your most current readers.

Maybe it dates me, but the old Saturday Night Live skits were pretty funny. My little sister makes fun of my positive attitude with this quote all the time. I know it was a skit that mocked people’s addiction to 12 Step classes, but is it possible he actually had the right idea? Do you psych yourself up in the morning with positive affirmations in the bathroom mirror? Do you talk yourself up in the car on the way to a sale? I have definitely told my discouraged teenagers to take some time to encourage themselves before they face a difficult time. It’s really not bad advice. Even in business, we need to be keenly aware of what is going well.

Customer satisfaction, you’ve heard of it. We stand behind “the customer is always right” to the point of ridiculous on many occasions. Whether they are a pleasant, easy-going customer or the grumpy, hard to please type, we treat them with respect because they do matter to us. We have a zillion reasons they are valuable, [...]
